Club Cougar

A theater marquee with cougar ears, its bulbs lit, reading Club Cougar, over the handwritten line Twenty years in the back of my head.

I'm a little scared to post this, but I'm also trying to be more brave.

Club Cougar

When I was in high school, we had a year-end performing arts showcase called Club Cougar.

Our mascot was a cougar, and therefore the name of the club followed. No, it was not a club for active older women. (Although... not a bad idea.)

Twenty years

For 20 years now I've had this idea, this desire, in the back of my head: to create my own version. I just never thought it would actually be possible.

Well, now I have a platform on Instagram, and I've been getting ready to shift my energy over to YouTube to build a platform there as well.

But every time I've tried, I've felt this resistance. This hesitation. I felt locked up, like I wasn't able to build what I wanted to build, for so many different reasons. I've been spinning my wheels on my ideas.

The question

Then I had a conversation with an old friend. She asked me why I wasn't just going for the things I sincerely wanted, while I kept putting all this stuff in between me and my goals.

I started to explain all of my reasons. She just told me:

"You're hedging. You care about this. Why not just... do it?"

That question sat in the back of my head for weeks. Today it turned into a video.

My version

Great coffee and a good book to start the day. Then a day full of fun projects to fill your time, until you come back tomorrow.

A bookstore, a coffee shop, a makerspace and a stage under one roof. A place where theater kids, makers, readers and night owls can come in, make something and put on a show.

Maybe

I'm gonna see if maybe it might be possible.
