Small shops first

I make videos about people who make things. If you run a small business, or you're a creator with something worth seeing, I want to work with you.

One-person shops, family businesses, two people and a kiln. Those are the ones I most want to hear from, and the ones this page is really written for.

The main thing

A weekly video about a small business

Once or twice a week I make a video about a small business or an independent maker. It goes out to my audience and gets saved to a highlight, so it keeps working long after the week it went up.

That's the shape of most of what I do. Everything below is a variation on it.

One video

A single piece about you and what you make. Good for a launch, a season, or a shop that just wants to be seen properly once.

A short series

Three or four videos over a few weeks. Room to show the process, not just the product. This is where the interesting work happens.

An honest look at your product

I use it, then I say what I think. If I don't like it I'll tell you before anything goes out, and we part as friends.

Something you already had in mind

You know your business better than I do. If you've got a format in your head, bring it and we'll work out whether I'm the right person for it.

The awkward part, up front

About the money

Pricing is per project and we work it out over email. There's no rate card on this page because I don't think one number fits a ceramics studio and a national brand.

If you're a small shop, tell me what you can spend and we'll build something that fits inside it. I'd rather make a good video with a one-person business than skip it because the budget didn't match a price list.

Bigger budgets are welcome too. They tend to fund the smaller ones.

Why it works this way

Attention works better sideways

Attention mostly runs downhill, from the largest accounts out to everyone else. I think it does more good running sideways: small shops and independent makers pointing at each other until the whole network is sturdier than any single part of it.

There are more good makers than there is room to notice them. That's the actual problem, and it's a solvable one.

You reach people who would never have found you. My audience meets someone worth knowing. Both of us end up further along than we started.

So you know where you stand

What I won't do

Start here

Tell me what you make

Email me with three things: what you make, who it's for, and roughly what you can spend. That's enough for me to tell you whether I can help and what it would look like.

I read every message myself. If we're not a fit I'll still try to point you at someone who is.
